Vision Statement & Objectives

“A vision for the parish Of Toppesfield and Gainsford End”

Toppesfield and Gainsford End have had ‘light touch’ growth over the last century, with only a small number of developments taking place over a considerable number of years. This has influenced the community we now are, with a thriving community-owned village shop, the pub and more recently the brewery. The community is also enhanced by a quality primary school which benefits from a delightful setting.

Our rural location, enhanced by the low level of through traffic in village, gives the community direct access to many footpaths and significant safe cycling routes for young and old.

Important Considerations:
The Covid pandemic has had a huge impact on all of society and how we all go about our working day. Global warming will also have a future impact on how we as a community can work to help reduce energy consumption.

Key Points for the future:
• Keep protecting and enhancing the character of both villages whilst recognising the need to modernise housing stock and incorporate future developments that are sympathetic to the overall feeling of the village

• Maintain the integrity of our community

• Ensure a thriving future for the school, shop, brewery and other community initiatives

• Identify what characteristics of our villages should be protected, particularly in respect of open spaces

• Enhance the facilities in the community to reflect the change in working style post Covid

• Ensure that future developments and their occupants are happily, successfully and sustainably integrated into the villages and their communities

• Continue to develop a strong sense of ownership within community for all age groups and in every situation
